FAQs

What is a Model Release and why do I need to sign one?

A Model Release is an industry standard form and contract between the Photographer and the Subject(s) of the photo shoot. It’s the written permission that allows both the Photographer, the Subject, the Client and any specified additional parties, to use the images. A Model Release ensures there are no grey areas when it comes to using an image.

The Model Release provides rights covers the following:

  • Where you can use the images: social media, websites, prints etc.

  • How you can use the images: personal, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising

  • How long you can use the images

In the United States, it’s illegal for a Photographer to use someone’s likeness commercially without a Model Release. Likewise, it’s illegal for a Client to use images from a photographer without the same permission.
